Arrival

Updated: Sep 5, 2019

My plane landed in the Vienna International Airport about one hour later than the expected time of arrival, but thankfully, I was still able to ride to the apartments in the taxi I had arranged for with two of the other students on the program. With my 49.4lb suitcase and Austrian Airline muffin in tow, I headed to catch the taxi with the other students.

Once we got to the apartments and I had unpacked, I fought the urge to sleep by attempting to watch Netflix, but I realized that a lot of the shows I wanted to watch were not on Netflix in Austria. Soon a few students asked if I wanted to go grocery shopping and we headed to Spar. My new favorite grocery store!

Grocery shopping posed a few challenges as we could not read the labels on most of the food. We mainly used pictures and packaging to try to figure out what the mystery groceries actually were. We discovered loaves of crustless bread and were mesmerized.

I met a handful of the other students on the program at dinner that night and settled in for my first night in Vienna.
